In this course participants will learn how to extract important information about the standards through studying the essential components and structural framework. Primary insight into the overall goals and objectives of the standards is provided. This course is designed as a lead-up to ARTS123 Artistic Literacy.
SEADAE (the State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education) is a national not-for-profit service organization focused on state policy and practices in arts education and is a founding member of the National Coalition for Core Arts Standards. Leaders of SEADAE participated in the standards development process as facilitators of the coalition’s Leadership Team during the three year process that led to the 2014 released of the National Core Arts Standards. SEADAE members provide content expertise for the Pepper Visual & Performing Arts Collection.
As more and more states move toward adopting these model national standards as their state arts standards, SEADAE recognizes the importance of quality professional learning resources for practitioners. SEADAE also recognizes the teacher as the key individual charged with advancing arts education in our nation. As we serve our states, so too we serve all of you by crafting the best possible online learning experience. Together, PCG and SEADAE hope this course will serve as a valuable resource to you as you begin to explore all that the National Core Arts Standards have to offer.
